Long and Short Speech on Diwali in English

Here we are providing an ideal speech on Diwali. The speech on Diwali we have given is very simple and written in short sentences. By using this type of speech, students can easily deliver a speech during any program organized in their school.

Speech 1…

Good morning everyone, honorable Principal, respected teachers, and my dear friends.

The festival of Diwali is very near now and I am Anjali Gupta, a student of class 7th, I will present a speech on Diwali in front of all of you today. Diwali is also known as the festival of light and colors.

Diwali is one of the most important festivals for the followers of Hinduism as it signifies the victory of light over darkness. This is the reason why we light diyas in our homes at this festival.

We all must have seen in our homes that our mothers start cleaning the houses a week before Diwali, after all, we have thought that why Diwali is so important in our life.

It is believed that on the auspicious day of Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi comes to those houses which are kept clean and bestow her blessings.

We all must have heard many anecdotal stories about Diwali from our grandparents. Many families believe that this festival is celebrated as the victory of good over evil, while many believe that it is celebrated in honor of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, and Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom.

According to the Hindu epic Ramayana, the people of Ayodhya lit ghee lamps in the joy of returning to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile of Lord Rama, Mother Sita, and Lakshman Ji, and from this, the festival of Diwali started.

Similarly, according to the second Hindu epic Mahabharata, some people celebrated the festival of Diwali by lighting a lamp when the Pandavas returned to their kingdom after 12 years of exile and 1 year of exile.

Apart from this, it is also believed that the festival of Diwali started when Goddess Lakshmi was born after the churning of the ocean by the gods and demons. The festival of Diwali also marks the auspicious start of the New Year in some western and northern parts of India.

Along with this, it is also celebrated by the people of Sikhism to pay homage to many Gurus of Sikhism in the Golden Temple. Similarly, it is also considered by Jains as the day of attainment of knowledge of Mahavir Swami.

That’s why we can say that because India is a very diverse country, there are different beliefs about Diwali in different religions.

Although Diwali is the festival of light, yet many of us do not hesitate to spread pollution to celebrate this day. Using firecrackers is not only dangerous.

Using firecrackers is not only dangerous for asthma patients but is also very dangerous for common people.

It releases many types of toxic elements in the air such as carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, etc. Due to this finally, the problem of pollution arises.

Therefore, we all have to take up this responsibility of not bursting crackers on Diwali and do the work of environmental protection for our coming generation.

It is not that only humans are affected by the pollution generated by firecrackers but it also harms the animals and birds equally.

Due to the pollution generated by these firecrackers, the amount of oxygen in our body becomes very less and the amount of carbon dioxide increases, which sometimes causes death.

So let us all together take a pledge to celebrate pollution-free Diwali.

Now I am going to conclude my speech, thank you all for being here and making this program a success.

~Thank You for listening~

Speech 2…

Good Morning Everyone, Honorable Principal, worthy teachers, and my dear fellows.

I am Ankita Roy and today I want to say something in front of you guys on this occasion.

As you all know that the festival of Diwali is very near and I am sure that you too will be very excited about this special festival. But I would like to warn you about the ill-effects of fireworks on Diwali.

As Diwali is the festival of lights, but for many decades before today, we have been increasing the beauty of this day with firecrackers. But now the time has come for all of us to stop and think on this matter.

Firecrackers not only cause air pollution but also noise pollution. We feel very good for some time but its long-term effects are very harmful.

On the one hand, the air of the country is getting polluted like this and on the other hand, we pollute it even more in the name of the festival. If the list of some top countries of the world is taken out whose air is most polluted, then the first five cities are from India.

In such a situation, if we youths do not think about our country, then who will?

It is not necessary that every time someone else falls ill due to polluted air, you can also be a victim of it or someone else of yours.

Just as the treatment of cancer in its first stage is not as much as possible in the last, in the same way we need to stop air pollution right now.

Apart from air pollution, noise pollution is also no small problem. Small children, animals, patients, etc. are greatly affected by this, so take a pledge that this time Diwali will be celebrated only by decorating the lamps and will not spread any kind of pollution and will not allow it to spread to others.

Instead of bursting these harmful firecrackers, we should light a lamp, clean our houses, help in making delicious sweets in our homes, make Rangoli welcome Maa Lakshmi.

It is believed that Diwali is the festival of victory of light over darkness, which is why we light diyas and remove darkness from our homes.

However, together we can take many steps for environmental protection. Firecrackers have been banned by the Government of India, yet people do not follow these rules and laws, so these rules should be strictly enforced.

Many schools and organizations work to make students, as well as people, understand the importance of pollution-free Diwali.

Such campaigns are encouraged by media channels and their heads, in which efforts are made to make people aware of the harmful consequences of firecrackers.

For this, many programs are run on television and radio, in which people are made aware of the noise pollution caused by firecrackers.

Therefore, I would appeal to all of you to help our government and support the decision to ban crackers.

Speech 3…

Respected Principal, Teachers, and Dear Friends, All of you are warmly welcomed to this program.

As we all know that it is the festive season and our most favorite festival Diwali is very near. This is the reason why we are all so excited, but I would like to warn you about the ill effects of fireworks on Diwali.

After this festival, the environmental condition becomes very pathetic and it becomes very difficult for the people to breathe. Young children and old people are most affected by this problem. Due to which many types of problems arise in them, such as difficulty in breathing, eye problems, etc.

However, despite being well acquainted with these things and knowing the increasing ill-effects of firecrackers on the environment, many people buy them in huge quantities and burst them during Diwali.

One of the most horrifying consequences of bursting crackers is the dreadful haze that spreads across the sky. My dear friends, my aim is not to stop you all from celebrating such an auspicious festival, but to make you understand how many destructive consequences are produced on our environment by these actions of ours.

Being an educated person, it is our responsibility to be more aware of our responsibilities and try to make the people around us also aware of them.

Dear friends, this is our environment and we are the inhabitants of this planet. So it is our biggest responsibility to fulfill our responsibility and try to protect this planet at all costs not only for our future generations but also to discharge our responsibility by protecting the natural resources of our mother earth.

It is not that if we do not burst firecrackers, our festival will end or it will become boring, there are many other ways by which we can work to make this festival more fun.

Such as lighting a lamp, flying kites with a lamp, distributing sweets, and if you want to burst firecrackers, then burst such crackers which are least harmful to the environment and use them in limited quantity.

If each one of us becomes a little aware of this issue, then we can very easily save our environment from more damage and can make a festival like Diwali more meaningful and good.

Now I am going to conclude my speech, thank you all for being here and making this program a success.
