Introduction
Global warming is a gradual process of heating the Earth’s surface and the entire environment including oceans, ice peels, etc. Recent years have clearly seen a global increase in atmospheric temperature.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average surface temperature of the Earth’s surface has increased by about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degrees Celsius) in the last century. It is also estimated that global temperatures may increase by 2 to 11.5 degrees F in the next century.
Causes of global warming
There are many causes of global warming, some are natural causes and some are man-made causes. The most important causes of global warming are greenhouse gases which are produced by certain natural processes as well as human activities.
The 20th century has seen an increase in the level of greenhouse gases due to the increasing population, economy, and energy use. The increasing demand for industrialization in the modern world is causing the release of various types of greenhouse gases through many industrial processes in the atmosphere to meet almost every need. The release of carbon dioxide (CO2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas has increased 10-fold in recent years. The release of carbon dioxide gas varies according to natural and industrial processes, including photosynthesis and oxidation cycles.
Methane is another greenhouse gas release into the atmosphere by anaerobic decomposition of organic materials. Other greenhouse gases are like oxides of nitrogen (nitrous oxide), halocarbons, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), chlorine and bromine compounds, etc., such as greenhouse gases store in the atmosphere and disrupt the radiation balance of the atmosphere. They have a reason for absorbing heat radiations and heating the Earth’s surface.
Another cause of global warming is ozone depletion, which means there is a hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica. The release of chlorofluorocarbon gas is leading to a day-to-day decline in the ozone layer. It is a human-caused cause of global warming. Chlorofluorocarbon gas is used in many places as an industrial cleaning fluid and aerosol propellant in refrigerators, the gradual release of which causes the degradation of the ozone layer in the atmosphere.
The ozone layer prevents the earth’s surface from damaging rays of the sun from coming to the earth. However, the gradual degradation of the ozone layer is a major sign of increasing global warming of the Earth’s surface. Harmful ultraviolet sun rays are entering the biosphere and are absorbed by greenhouse gases which ultimately increase global warming. According to the data, it is estimated that by 2000 the ozone hole size has doubled from the size of Antarctica (over 25 million km). There is no clear tendency for the ozone layer to decline during the winter or summer seasons.
The presence of various aerosols in the atmosphere is also raising the Earth’s surface temperature. Atmospheric aerosols disperse solar and infrared radiations (cooling the planet) and make the air hot (absorbed). They are also capable of changing the microphysical and chemical properties of clouds and possibly their lifespan and range. The increasing amount of atmosphere in the atmosphere is due to a human contribution.
Dust is provided by cultivation, and soot particles are given by biomass burning, and aerosols are generated by industrial processes from the burning of different types of products in the manufacturing process. Various emissions through transport generate various pollutants that are converted into aerosols through several chemical reactions in the atmosphere.
Effects of Global Warming
The effects of global warming have been very evident in recent years due to increasing sources of global warming. According to the US Geological Survey, it has been recorded that 150 glaciers were located in Montana’s Glacier National Park, but due to the increasing effects of global warming, only 25 glaciers remain. Massive climate change is making hurricanes more dangerous and powerful. Natural storms are becoming so strong by taking energy from temperature differences (cold upper atmosphere and warm tropical ocean). The year 2012 has been recorded as the warmest year since 1895 and the year 2013 with 2003 as the warmest year.
Global warming causes a lot of climate changes in the environment such as increasing summer season, decreasing winter season, increasing temperature, changes in air circulation patterns, jet streams, rain without season, melting snowflakes, ozone Layer fall, heavy storm event, cyclone, flood, drought, and so many effects
How to Reduce Global Warming
Many awareness plans and programs to reduce global warming have been run and performed by government agencies, business leaders, private sectors, NGOs, etc. Some losses through global warming are non-refundable by the solution (Such as melting snowflakes). However, we should not back down and try our best to mitigate the effects of global warming by reducing the human causes of global warming.
We should try to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and adopt some climate change which has been happening for years already. Instead of using electric energy, we should try to use clean energy or energy created by solar energy, wind, and geothermal. Reducing the level of the burning of coal and oil, the use of transport equipment, the use of electrical equipment, etc. can reduce global warming to a great extent.
